so long and thanks for all the fish
With breaking-up being by far the best part of any work-relationship, I relayed news of my demise as follows:
After 3 ½ years as an Assistant Product Planner [not my real title - it's an snide, inside joke that will hit only the face of it's intended target] I’ve decided it’s high time that I stopped playing with spreadsheets and started being taken seriously… no, seriously!
So I’m leaving XXXXXXXXX [name of old company omitted to safeguard my street cred]… next Friday. And I know it’s Christmas and everything and there’s stuff to do, but I’d like some people (you can draw straws or something) to join me after work next Fri for a drink or two round the corner somewhere – I’m thinking the Junction on Fortess Road and then maybe later, Lalibela for some eats (the Ethiopian near Tufnell Park Tube that Pam hates).
As an added incentive for your company that evening, and as a thank you for much amusement over the years, I’ll probably be bringing in some hand made sausages OR sushi for a mini-smorgasbord next Friday lunchtime.
Also… perhaps more importantly… I will, as always, be ‘starring’ at Hot Breath Karaoke in Old Street on Tuesday 13th. Not that I would describe any evening at Hot Breath as being normal, this night will be particularly un-normal as it will be the karaoke Christmas special. You may wonder why I mention this but some individuals have actually expressed an interest in attending over the years but have so far failed to make good their word. So here it is - last chance motel. And I would SORELY love for people be part of this ‘historic’ occasion. Attractions will include (asides from me making a tit of myself) my mate and his wife dancing in tight spandex leotards, some skinny white guy with a beard doing Sean Paul impressions, my girlfriend actually making a public appearance , AND the chance to win prizes worth up to 99p!
…I’ll pester and provide more info next week.
And lastly, in true leaving email style, I’ve stuck some voting buttons at the top for you to press in a random fashion of your choosing [for completeness, voting buttons were 'The Junction', 'Lalibela', 'sausages', 'sushi' and 'I never like the guy that much anyway'... as we speak it's a tie between 'sushi' and 'never liked the guy'].
